The First Algernon Blackwood Megapack

The first story is The Willows.
I don't have a page number (location 259 in my Kindle) but it is about the 11th para in the story which starts with "We had made many similar journeys together,..."
The second sentence finishes with "...it had seemed to us like following the grown of some living creature."
This use of the word grown may be correct but it feels wrong. Maybe it made more sense a hundred years ago.
Growth might be more correct.
