Golden Salamander
Enjoyed the 1950 Brit noir GOLDEN SALAMANDER starring Trevor Howard, Anouk Aimee, Herbert Lom and Walter Rilla.
David Redfern (Howard) is an archeologist tasked with recovering lost artifacts in Tunisia. As he's cataloging the treasures he runs into a band of arms smugglers (led by Lom) and a beautiful young lady (Aimee) whom he falls in love with. Aimee initially was in love with Max (Jacques Sernas), but his body is found after foul play which tips Howard off to how serious the behind-the-scenes machinations really are.
The scenery and the atmosphere of this film greatly added to its appeal.
It's currently 6.3 on IMDb but Keaney graded it a bit higher at 3.0 (out of 5.0)--which I agree with.
