This 1948 Brit noir THE SMALL VOICE (US:  THE HIDEOUT) is a pretty routine entry.  It stars Valerie Hobson, James Donald, Howard Keel, David Greene, Michael Balfour and Joan Young.

Hobson and Keel are head and shoulders above the rest with Hobson doing a fine job of a lady with a backbone--unlike her husband, Donald.  Three escaped convicts hide out in their home after the couple rescues them subsequent to an accident.  Two children from the accident, one critically ill, complicate things for the perps.

To be fair I viewed a truncated 66-min version compared to the original 86 minutes--but I don't see how an extra 20 minutes would have added anything.

Keaney gives it a 2.0 and it rings in with a 6.7 on IMDb.
