Raw Deal 1948

Post by garyleeoz on Sat Oct 24, 2015 10:25 am

Just watched "Raw Deal (1948)" on Youtube. Directed by Anthony Mann and featuring Claire Trevor and a very menacing Raymond Burr, I thought it should be "worth a look" ... and it definitely was. I even liked Dennis O'Keefe and Marsha Hunt playing more serious characters than they usually do. It may be a familiar story about a prisoner (Dennis O'Keefe) who escapes with the help of his girlfriend (Claire Trevor) and then tries to get the $50,000 that Crime Boss Burr owns him but it still manages to power along for 85 mins and it looks great (lots of dark shadowy scenes).

Raw Deal is a solid noir (Keaney: 3.5).

It's been 9 years since I last viewed it, so my memory is a bit dim, but as I recall, and Keaney grades, it's definitely worth a view.

Lastly, Gary validates this with his post.

Probably time for me to view it again.
