Dickie Moore - RIP

Post by Bruce R on Wed Sep 16, 2015 9:57 pm

Famous child star, Dickie Moore, has died at 89.

Talk about seeing it all, his first appearance was in the 1927 silent "The Beloved Rogue" with John Barrymore. He was 11 months old at the time.

He started working regularly at the age of 4 (1933) and besides his Our Gang/Little Rascals work, appeared in the all-time great noir OUT OF THE PAST (amongst many other films).

Other than Mickey Rooney, can anyone think of anyone else who's been in the business so long?

Olivia de Havilland and Kirk Douglas are still with us at 99, followed by Zsa Zsa Gabor at 98. Noel Neill (Lois Lane) is also still with us at 95.

Sadly those who aren't ...

Joan Fontaine made it to 98,
Katharine Hepburn ... 96.  Luise Rainer ... 104. Eli Wallach ... 98. Mickey Rooney ... 93. Jackie Cooper ... 88.

That's a nice list Gary.

The "winner" is de Havilland who first appeared in a film in 1935.

Another actor I thought of was Jackie Coogan because of his role in "the Kid" and then later on TV in the 1960s/50s but Jackie Coogan only lived to 69. I also thought of Shirley Temple who died last year at the age of 85.
