1959 THE BIG OPERATOR
Got a nice copy of this a few months ago so decided "it was time."
It's noir starring Mickey Rooney, Steve Cochran, Mamie Van Doren, Mel Torme, Rany Danton, and Jim Backus.
Rooney does an admirable job as a crooked union boss. Inch for inch he really projects well.
Keaney gave it a 2.5 and I'd say that's fair.
Nothing exceptional, but worth a view.

Re: 1959 THE BIG OPERATOR
The thing that I remember most about "the Big Operator" is that it's one of the few movies where Steve Cochran is the Hero ... and that he could deduce where he was "being taken for a ride" from various clues even though he was blindfolded. Well that type of thing impresses a little boy (which I was when I first saw it) ... funny I don't remember Mamie Van Doren in it ... I must have been too young to notice.
