Turn the Key Softly Empty Turn the Key Softly

The 1953 British noir TURN THE KEY SOFTLY is an above average film about three women who are released from prison and their subsequent adventures on their first day out.

It stars Yvonne Mitchell, Terence Moran, (a very young) Joan Collins and Kathleen Harrison.

Monica (Yvonne Mitchell) is full of hatred for the man who led her, unknowingly, into a crime that cost her, and not him, 12 months in prison. Stella (Joan Collins) is a good-time goldigger who is determined not to return to her old lifestyle. And Mrs. Quillam (Kathleen Harrison), an elderly shoplifter, is the "nice old lady" who never takes anything worth much because "that would be stealing".

A well-paced and enjoyable 81 minutes with a 3.0 from Keaney and 6.9 on IMDb.

Recommended.
