The 1951 biography/drama/war film I WAS AN AMERICAN SPY stars Ann Dvorak, Gene Evens, Douglas Kennedy and the very familiar Richard Loo and Philip Ahn.

This is a story based on the true story of "Mata Hari".  How much is true, I don't know. For one thing it's set in Manila with the Japanese being the antagonists, not the Germans.  Mata Hari was executed by firing squad in France, not toughing it out in the Pacific.

The film is an uneven effort.  Parts are good but there are too many improbable events leading to too much head shaking.  That may explain the 5.5 rating on IMDb.
