Wildside Press guidelines - fiction

Post by John Betancourt on Wed Jul 08, 2015 12:53 pm

Wildside Press is primarily a reprint market (in that we publish very little original fiction, outside of that which is used in our magazines).

Most of the books we look for are:

  • By older authors (originally published between 1930 and 1990).
  • Still in copyright in the United States.
  • By an author with an existing following.
  • Part of a series, or available with enough other books by the author to create a publishing program.

We will look at original book-length work (35,000 to 120,000 words) if:

  • The author has a following. (Readers will seek out this work.)
  • We have an existing relationship with the author. (You've published in our magazines? Yes!)
  • You are an active member of the Mystery Writers or America, Sisters in Crime, or the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.

Note:

  • We publish primarily ebooks and print on demand paperbacks. (We also publish 6-10 books/year by traditional means.)
  • With very few exceptions, we do not offer advances.

If you are meet the above criteria, send a query letter (email preferred) or postal letter to:
