I was not only awestruck by the overwhelming number of submissions, but also by their incredible quality.

I am just awestruck that after so long the most beloved weird zine of my lifetime is coming back. I have every expectation of it being great again though time will tell. I know for sure the legend of the thing will guarantee authors will want to submit their best to try to be a part of it. But it's always worrisome a READING public doesn't have the same long memory and it's never easy to sell subscriptions to ANYthing.

What do you expect from Weirdbook? Empty What do you expect from Weirdbook?

Post by Douglas Draa Wed Jul 08, 2015 3:01 pm

Hey everyone,

Let me introduce myself.

I'm Douglas Draa the editor of Weirdbook.

I have a very specific vision regarding what I want to present/offer in Weirdbook.

I plan on staying true to Paul Ganley's original vision while bringing the magazine into the 21st Century.

Thanks to all the wonderful writers who have already contributed, we'll be able to offer some of the best and most entertaining weird fiction out there.

I have no intention of second guessing the readers or the critics.
That would set us firmly on the road to ruin.

The stories  that I've chosen so far have appealed to me as a reader.
Not as a writer, nor as a critic.
Simply as a reader.
Because our incarnation of Weirdbook is meant to be, and will be, a reader's magazine.
To be honest, this probably makes me more of an anthologist than editor in the classic sense.

Now what I'd like to hear, not that'll I'll necessarily listen mind you   Wink  , is what you. the readers are hoping to find in the pages of Weirdbook come this fall.

What are your hopes?
And what are your fears?

Take care.

Douglas
