Arson, Inc.

Arson, Inc.
A forgettable, but enjoyable little 63-minute film (1949 ARSON, INC.) starring Robert Lowery, Anne Gwynne, Edward Brophy and Douglas Fowley.
It's NOT a noir, but a crime drama. It's in the Forgotten Noir series (it's in Vol. 2), along with the 1952 LOAN SHARK starring George Raft (which is a noir).
Lowery plays a fireman in search of a seemingly random arsonist—or arsonists. Putting two and two together, he figures out that culprits are a gang of thieves who've been torching businesses to cover up their robberies. Much of the film has a semidocumentary quality, as director William Berke concentrates on the real-life methods and firefighting equipment of the LA Fire Department. Needless to say, we've come a long way!
