Crime Doctor 1943
I've seen other movies in the Crime Doctor series but I don't recall if they ever explained why he was called "the Crime Doctor". So it was a "revelation" to find out that our hero was once a "criminal mastermind" who lost all memory of his past life. He rebuilds his life and becomes a respected psychiatrist / medical doctor, however, eventually his "past life" does catch up with him. Worth a look ... there's currently a copy on Youtube if you don't want to wait for TCM to show it.

Yes, that's a pivotal entry in getting a better understanding of the series. And a most enjoyable entry too.
I'd be nice if this series had a commercial release, but holding your breath is definitely contraindicated.
I have nice TCM copies except for the 1944 SHADOWS IN THE NIGHT, which was an S-VHS EP dub off TMC--many years ago. But definitely watchable.
